Terms of Service

Give A Roof (GiveARoof.org) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the State of California, EIN 99-2925258. This website exists to explain our work, share our founder's proposal for ending street homelessness, and point supporters toward ways to give.

We do not collect donations on this website. Every donation button sends you to our official campaign page in United Airlines' MileagePlus "Miles on a Mission" program, which is operated by United and its partners. Your donation there is governed by United's own terms, privacy policy, and program rules — not by these terms.

Because donations are processed off-site, we never receive or store your payment card details, MileagePlus account credentials, or loyalty account balances.

Donated miles, points, and funds are used to advance our charitable mission. Donations are generally irrevocable and non-refundable once made. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact the program through which you gave, and let us know so we can help where we can.

Give A Roof is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. The deductibility of any particular gift — including donations of airline miles or hotel points — depends on your circumstances and on how the donation is made.

Nothing on this site is tax, legal, or financial advice. Please consult your own advisor before relying on any statement here for tax purposes.

If you subscribe to our updates, we will send you a confirmation email and only add you to our list once you click the link in it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. How we handle your address is described in our Privacy Policy.

You may read, share, and link to this site freely. You agree not to:

• use the site for any unlawful purpose, or to impersonate Give A Roof or its representatives
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its servers, or any connected system
• interfere with the site's operation, including through automated scraping that degrades service
• submit someone else's email address to our list without their permission

The text, graphics, photography, and design of this site are owned by GiveARoof.org or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. The Give A Roof name and logo are our marks.

You may quote or share our material with attribution for noncommercial purposes. Please ask before using our name, logo, or materials in a way that implies endorsement, partnership, or sponsorship.

United Airlines, MileagePlus, and all other third-party names and logos appearing on this site are the property of their respective owners and are used to identify those organizations.

This site links to news coverage, a book listing, a podcast episode, and our donation page, and it embeds a video player and a podcast player hosted by third parties. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their terms.

We work to keep this site accurate and available, but we provide it "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any information on it is complete or current. Figures describing our proposal and its projected impact are estimates and advocacy, not guarantees.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GiveARoof.org, its directors, officers, volunteers, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of this site. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, in which case they apply to the greatest extent permitted.

We may update these terms as our work and this site change. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from them will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California.
