Privacy Policy

The only personal information we ask you for is your name and email address, and only if you choose to subscribe to our updates. We do not sell or rent your information, we do not run advertising, and we do not set our own tracking cookies. Donations happen on United's site, so we never see your payment details.

Information you give us:

• Your email address, and your name if you provide it, when you subscribe to our updates
• Whatever you choose to include when you email us directly

Information collected automatically:

• Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — used to operate and secure the site

We do not ask for and do not want sensitive personal information. Please do not send us anything you would not want stored in an ordinary email inbox.

We use your email address to send you the updates you asked for, and to confirm that the address is really yours. We use anything you email us to answer you. We use server logs to keep the site running and to investigate abuse. That is all.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

When you subscribe, we send a confirmation email with a link that expires after 48 hours. Your address is added to our list only after you click it. Until then, nothing is stored on our list. This protects people whose addresses are submitted by someone else.

We keep the number of companies touching your data as small as we can:

• Our email provider stores our subscriber list and delivers our emails
• Our hosting provider serves this website and keeps the server logs described above
• United Airlines' MileagePlus program handles donations on its own site, under its own privacy policy — we receive no payment or account information from it

These providers act on our behalf and are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing.

This site embeds a video player and a podcast player hosted by third parties. We use the privacy-enhanced version of the video embed, which does not set tracking cookies unless you play the video. Once you press play on either player, that provider may collect information about your viewing or listening under its own privacy policy.

This site does not set advertising or analytics cookies of its own, and there is no tracking pixel in our pages. Cookies that do appear come from the embedded players described above, and only if you interact with them.

We keep your subscription details until you unsubscribe, plus a short period afterward to honor your request. We keep emails you send us for as long as we need them to maintain our records. Server logs are retained on our hosting provider's standard schedule.

• Unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send
• Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you
• Ask us to correct or delete it, and we will, unless we are required to keep it

To make any of these requests, email info@givearoof.org. We will not treat you differently for exercising them.

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for asking. The categories we collect are described above.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has subscribed, contact us and we will remove the address.

If we change this policy, we will revise the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects subscribers, we will say so in an email.
